22. Partner, Friend, Lover, Wife
Jill and I had been together for 6 years, and we were comfortable in our relationship. We loved each other very much, and we were even talking about the possibility of kids, but that’s another show.
I thought the time had come for us to take the relationship to the next level, so one day I took Jill to a nice restaurant and popped the question. I pretty much expected her answer, she told me in no uncertain terms that she would rather take a bath in a toxic waste dump then be married to me for 1 second. I’m just kidding, she accepted and we started planning our nuptuals.
We were going to do a simple quick, “Do you/I do” wedding with Pastor Gardner from Solid Rock. Then Nancy found out and it became much more complicated. We had to have food, invite family from all over the country, get a tuxedo, a wedding dress, and more. All we ever wanted to do was tie the knot then have a big party. That didn’t happen though.
The wedding was great don’t get me wrong. Fun, beautiful, and Jill deserved it. But it just wasn’t what we would have originally done, however it worked out great. Poor Jill had a 103 degree fever with the flu as we stood there saying “I do”. I can honestly say it’s a wedding we will never forget. You can check out tons of photos and even some video in the appropriate areas of this site.
After the wedding we went to a hotel for a reception. Family and friends wishing us well, opening our wedding presents, and just having a good time. Then off for a ride in a limo. The final leg of the wedding day was being dropped off at the hotel. Going up to the wedding suite, and then……………going to sleep! We were exhausted.
So there we were. Married, saved, and happy. Unfortunately the enemy seems to know the right time to strike and when he does, you better be ready or you’ll pay. We were going to get some really bad news, and one of household wasn’t going to survive.
