My skill set is quite diverse. My previous experience in the military as a technician and instructor has brought many rewarding experiences with technology. I’m naturally excited about technology so it’s not difficult to share about it with enthusiasm. Unfortunately, not all people shared that same enthusiasm when I was in the Navy. I did my best to seek ways to present technical information in an interesting way to motivate even the most dispassionate of coworkers and students. I did so with a great deal of success.Additionally, I’ve always had an interest in personal computers beginning in 1982. My first computer was a TRS-80 Model III. This “state-of-the-art” system was complete with 48K RAM, Dual 5 1/4 floppy drives, a dot-matrix printer and 300 Baud, manually operated modem! My interests have evolved into a career over the years. I’ve always enjoyed matching technology to needs. I still enjoy what I do and look forward to the many more advances that this industry will go through and take me to.
Most of my experience has been Microsoft centric. As a Systems Engineer, I’ve built my career to be a generalist across key disciplines with a greater degree of depth in networking and security. Many of the projects that I’ve been involved with have allowed me opportunities to deploy solutions and develop processes that enable IT staff to be more efficient and do more with less. Creating technology solutions to enable the business and increase productivity is a passion. I understand that technology solutions need to be crafted to support the business requirements and objectives, not the other way around. I have worked with companies to translate their high availability requirements and create appropriately sized solutions that meet their immediate needs, future growth and budget. In my previous roles, I was responsible for quickly examining and documenting various networking environments and systems. Working with companies that were at varying levels of maturity in ITIL, I have been able to deploy new solutions in a controlled and disciplined manner that allowed successful implementation without interruption to the business. I am a U.S. Navy veteran. I am punctual and dependable. I understand what it is to have responsibility of mission critical systems, 24/7. I was honorably discharged in 2001 as a First Class Electronics Technician (E-6) to pursue my civilian career in information technology. My instructor training and experience in the Navy has given me the ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels of an organization. |
